Molly "Mols"-The Therapy Dog

 March 24, 1987 - May 15, 2003

I rescued Molly October 19, 2000.  Her human parents, an older couple, died within 6 months of each other leaving Molly an orphan. Molly was thirteen and her vet, since she was born, agreed to keep her until they found her a new home. When I took her home, she had a few disabilities.  She was deaf in one ear and about 35% deaf in her other ear. She had cataracts in both eyes. One eye she could not see through and the other it was probably somewhat blurred. She also came to me with a cancerous tumor on her chest. Yet she had more energy than dogs half her age and more sprit than I lot of people that I know. She was soon dubbed the energizer bunny.

My Molly had a lot of health issues but she seemed to live each day to the fullest. I could have the worst day of my life come home pick her up and hold her and she always made me feel 100% better. I always felt that someone "upstairs" sent her to me even though I only had her a 2 and a half years I cherish each day she was here.

I belong to a group called Caring Critters, the volunteers take their therapy animals to visit many of Houston's hospitals, assisted living and nursing homes. The first time I took her to the school TH Rogers (vanguard and disabled students K to 8th grade ) some of the members of my group remarked that she acted like she has done this all her life.  Molly seemed to  make every one who came in contact with her  feel good. We visited TH Roger for two full school years and she touched a lot of students who I sure still always remember her.

More TH Rogers pictures-Molly (in her pumpkin costume) at the 2002-Halloween Festival-waiting for someone to pet her. This photo was taken by one of the teachers and when I came back in the fall with Pistol Pete the class had bought the frame for the picture themselves and had the teacher present it too me. That is what it is all about. Molly will always be remembered by the students at TH Rogers.
