Comments: My uncle Jay was a great inspiration to me. He demonstrated by example how to take pride in being a Firefighter. He is a great role model for us all, and I would be very happy to some day be 1/10th of the FF that he is. I am also very proud to be part of the Jahnke Fire fighting Tradition. Thank you Scott for this web site, and thank everyone for your caring words and prayers.
GOD BLESS: JAY, HIS FAMILY, THE JAHNKE'S, HFD'S FF'S, EVERY FF AROUND THE WORLD, AND THE CITIZENS OF HOUSTON WHO HAVE SHOWN THEY CARE IN VARIOUS WAYS.

Comments: At first sight of your Dad said "You little Jay-Bird!". And that name stuck. Maybe that is why you soared.

You always said to me, "Mom be Strong".

And for those left standing I will say "Carry On" as you did after your dad passed away.

I promise I will "carry on" your mission.

We are a close family. Dawn, Jayne & Hunter are first in our thoughts.

Life is short and we'll see you soon.

Love, Mom

I pray for my Uncle Jay, and know that he is now in a better place... I will never forget the smile he always wore on his face. Anytime Jay was around, he would always do something to make me laugh - no matter what! Although I can no longer see you Jay, I know that you are more alive now than ever... you will forever be in our hearts. I love my family very much, and are praying for each and every one of you...
Love, Carrie

5 months now

It's been almost 5 months now since you have left us Jay, but it seems just like yesterday! I know you are busy and still reminiscing with Dad but I want you to know I still miss your smiling face and your bear hugs!

Your family has been busy too representing you and the firefighters of Houston. You will forever live in our hearts! Life is short and we will be with you soon.

Love you, Marianne
