Comments: I knew Jay just over a year and it seems like it was 20 years. Jay just made you feel like you were an old friend. I wish I had known him 20 years. Jay was my instructor when I went thru the HFD Citizens Fire Academy Class #2. Jay was always ready to help anyone learn about the Houston Fire Department and the equipment they use. He was very proud that he was a Houston Firefighter. If you had to find someone who really enjoyed their job, you would have to look no futher than Jay Jahnke. The thing I will miss most, is when I would stop to visit a few minutes at Station #2. It was always the same when you walked in; "Hey Brother! What's up?" And with a twinkle in his eye. That's jay, making you feel at home. "Hey Brother, I will miss you, Jay".
