Comments: Brother when you
weep for me
Remember that it was meant to be
Lay me down and when you leave
Remember I'll be at your sleeve
In every dark and choking hall
I'll be there as you slowly crawl
On every roof in driving snow
I'll hold your coat and you will know
In cellars hot with searing heat
At windows where a gate you meet
In closets where young children hide
You know I'll be there at your side
The House from which I now respond
Is overstaffed with heroes gone
Men who answered one last bell
Did the job and did it well
As firemen we understand
That death's a card dealt in our hand
A card we hope we never play
But one we hold there anyway
That card is something we ignore
As we crawl across a weakened floor
For we know that we're the only prayer
For anyone that might be there
So remember as you wipe your tears
The joy I knew throughout the years
As I did the job I loved to do
I pray that thought will see you through.

Comments: To those that I was
lucky enough to work with while employed by Paramount Pictures- I am very sorry
to hear of the loss of Jay Jahnke. He was a very kind man, funny at times and
drove a lot better then Calvin Mendel. I am sorry that our production did not
get sold and distributed before the tragedies of this year, but the department
and the men and women in this department that I was lucky enough to work with
will always hold a special place in my heart. To station 2- You are all in my
thoughts and prayers as you are going through this incredibly terrible loss.
Take care, be safe and drink Wiggys coffee.

Comments: Capt. J. Jahnke I
will always remember Jay He was a True Professional. I attended the citizens
Academy. I arrived early to the station for our Ride along for that night. A
Captain was needed on a fire Scene. We hopped into the suburban and headed to
the scene. As we rode along I could see in him that professionalism as he
explained the different aspects of the Fire Department. He touched my life with
his attention to detail and his willingness making sure you really grasped what
he was instructing on! My condolences to the Houston Fire Department Family in
the loss of a True American Hero!!
May God Bless You all! Thank You For What You Do!!! Thank You!!

Comments: Dawn Jahnke is a dear friend of mine and I know how much she loves Jay. She is the epitome of a perfect wife and mother. Jay was very lucky to have her and vice versa. The depict the perfect American family. They had so much to look forward to. Jay was taken away to be in a better place. He has left the legacy of his dedication and love for his fellow Americans. I can't not say enough about a man that has impacted everyone of us in some way or another. Dawn is a pillar and will forge on to not let her husband's death be in vain. I love you with all my heart and I pray for comfort to the Jahnke family!
