It is a tragic loss. I remember the Jahnke's from Spring Branch High days, and it is a shame that such a burden has been put on their hearts. Our prayers are with them.

As a fellow graduate of SBSH, I am deeply saddened by Jay's death. His sacrifice will never be forgotten by his fellow bruin bears.
My prayers to his family, that God will provide a way for you to heal.

I Grew Up With Jay's sister Marianne, snd spent a lot of time at the Jahnke home. Even as a little boy, Jay had a great sense of humor and loved to have a good time. He was very witty, and got a big kick out of bugging Marianne, Beth, and myself. Claude and Kay were such great parents, and had such a wonderful, close-knit family.

Thank you, Jay, for all of your sacirfices to protect and save lives, while doing the job you loved. You really left an impact on anyone who knew you!

My prayers go out to Dawn, Hunter & Jayne, Kay Jahnke, Marianne and Tommy and family, Karen and Rod and family, Jeff, his wilf and family, along with the rest of Jay's family and all of the brave Houston Fire-Fighters that also loved Jay - They are truly our heroes.

Love, Judi

I grew up with Marianne and spent time at her house with her, her parents and siblings. Jay was a few years behind us but knowing that he grew up to be such a wonderful person makes me glad. I lost some of my family when I was 17 and I know the hurt the family is going through. Please know that you will never forget him and he will always be a part of each of you. The service he performed for this city is admirable and his family and friends should be so proud. I hope his wife and children keep him in their hearts and continue life with the knowledge that he would want them to grab the most out of life and live life doing the things they most love, as he did. My heart goes out to all of you.

I just wanted to place my own little memorial for my father Oddis Monroe Smith, another fallen angel, who died on Nov.8th, 1999.

I love you daddy...you were the most important thing in my life and I think about you every day.You will always be missed and will be forever in my heart.God needed another flower for his garden and I know you are up there with him, watching over us. Thank you for everything...J.R. and I miss you and I will never let him forget his "Paw-Paw".Hold down the fort till we get there and let all of the other "fallen Heros" know that we appriciate thier bravery and sacrifice. You all will be greatly missed.

Love Always and Forever,
Desiree
or "Punkin' Girl" as he liked to call me.
