Comments: Everyday I see or hear about acts of kindness and bravery being committed by firefighters, policemen and just regular citizens helping out. To see everyone pulling together makes me very proud to be an American (and a Texan from Big "D"). Keep up the good work gang!

Comments: I met Jay while working in Kingwood several years ago, and as many others have written, he made you feel as if you were a life long friend the second he met you. Dawn, Jayne and Hunter, you should be so proud to call Jay your husband and father, you meant the world to him and he let everyone know it. His job on earth is done and was done well, he is now able to watch over everyone and make a difference from heaven. God Bless the men and women of the Houston Fire Department and the Jahnke family you have a special angel on your shoulder.

God Bless,

Misty Worrell EMT-P

City State or Country: Houston, Texas

Comments: Wonderful website to honor all the fallen firefighters. I was a firefighter with Cypress Creek V.F.D. for 10 years and was deeply saddened by Jay Jahnke's death. I had the privilege of working with him for a short time before I retired in Dec. 2000. He always had a smile on his face no matter how tired he was. Now he is smiling down on all of us. He won't be forgotten, nor will all the brave heroes that went before him.

City State or Country: Houston, Texas

Comments: Our condolences are with all of our Houston Firefighters during this time of loss. Often we don't take the time to appreciate the work you do, so we want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Several weeks ago we decided that funds raised at our annual British Bazaar, scheduled for October 27th this year, would go to the Houston Fire Department's Last Alarm Club. We hope that our donation will help out the families of fallen Houston Fire Fighters but even more we want you, the Fire Fighters, to realize that we do appreciate your hard work and sacrifices.

We too, understand loyalty to each other and brotherhood. We pray that in this time of sadness you'll find strength in each other.

Our prayers are with you all,
The Daughters of the British Empire
