Captain Jay Jahnke, a 20 year veteran of the Houston Fire Department, died this morning while fighting a high rise fire located in the Galleria area.  He was taken to Herman Hospital where he died from injuries sustained at the fire.  
     
I have been involved with the HFD line of duty deaths for almost 15 years.  It is always sad to have to add a firefighter to the list, believe me, adding this one, really hurts. 

Our "Jay Bird" will be sorely missed.
