Due to the large loss of firefighter's lives on September 11, 2001, I  decided to have a section in this web site dedicated to the FDNY.

 To start, I have several quotes I would like to share with you.  The first two are mine, and those who know me have most likely heard me say them. These quotes probably came from my 30 years as a Houston Firefighter. The others are quotes are from sources obtained after 911.
    Scott Mellott.

"Something can happen in the next two seconds that could change your life forever"
Scott Mellott  )

"To describe how fragile life is, use the phrase, Here Today - - - Gone Tomorrow"
Scott Mellott  )

"A person doesn't realize how fragile life is until they have to measure it in minutes"
 ( unknown WTC survivor )

"I've learned-that your life can be changed in a matter of minutes, by people who don't even know you."
( Willie J. Edwards, Corporal, United States Marine Corps )

"It's amazing the kinds of things you think about when there's no time to think."
( A member of the FDNY
)

"All of us are asked to live for others, some of us are asked to die for others."
( Inscribed on Michael's headstone in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, New York )

"He saved others-----but could not save his self"
(Keith Maynard's (Engine 33/Engine 220) minister at his funeral)

If you see any name listed in this section that is not does not have the correct information, it is very important to me to receive the corrected information. Also if the firefighter went by a certain name for example if his name was Richard and he went by "Rich" I would really like to include that type of information.
